– two coupling nuts, for attaching hanger bolts to threaded rods
– two hanger bolts
– ½-inch-thick plywood
– carpenter’s glue

– thin pry bar

– drill/driver fitted with three 12-inch-long drill-bit extensions and ¼-inch-diameter x 12-inch-long drill bit, used to bore pilot holes in base of post
